Why Won’t My Automatic Transmission Engage or Disengage?
Dear Ken, I am having a problem with my 2002 Ford F150 that I found on Cars for a Grand.
Why won’t my automatic transmission engage?
I cannot even disengage from park.
Any thoughts?

Dear Sam, this sounds like problem with the transmission’s linkage.
There may a connector that fell off, or out of position and fully or partially disconnected the shift control linkage from the actual transmission shift arm.
The connector’s or clip’s movement may have caused the linkage to become jammed at an obtuse angle, thereby preventing it from moving the transmission’s shift arm.
Hope this helps.

I was a block from my home and my car just stopped moving. The engine was going but would not go into gear. Any gear. Only park and neutral. I have a 2002 ford taurus. The car was fine this whole time. No problems at all other than the traction control kept coming on. This happened after I got a flat. I think is just the sensor. The car starts, engine runs, but will not move. Do you have any suggestions? Please reply.
Thank You
